Using reclaimed timber has its challenges but it also gives our tables their character. It is not an excuse for producing tables that will split or warp after a few months use. We prepare the reclaimed wood in exactly the same way we do when using more expensive hardwoods. We use the same attention to detail meaning our reclaimed table tops are the best you will find. Every item that leaves our workshop is something we are proud to have made and deliver to your home.
Furniture, if it is properly made, by hand in the UK by skilled makers being paid a wage commensurate to their skill (and including 20% VAT) is more expensive than mass produced or imported furniture but it is still great value for money and the more ethical choice. Please note, you will not find our furniture on any other websites.
The hardwood (and softwood such as Scots Pine and Larch) we source comes from a local tree surgeon who can often tell us exactly where the tree grew, always within the Scottish Borders. We feel this is the next best thing to reclaimed wood, just in the same way buying produce from your local butcher, baker or greengrocer is better than from a supermarket.
All of our off-cuts are given to our local community shed project or used by friends and family for firewood.
