Using reclaimed timber has its challenges but it also gives our tables their character. It is not an excuse for producing tables that will split or warp after a few months use. We prepare the reclaimed wood in exactly the same way we do when using more expensive hardwoods. We use the same attention to detail meaning our reclaimed table tops are the best you will find. Every item that leaves our workshop is something we are proud to have made and deliver to your home.
Furniture, if it is properly made, by hand in the UK by skilled makers being paid a wage commensurate to their skill (and including 20% VAT) is not cheap but it is great value for money and the more ethical choice. Pay as much as you can afford and avoid the pitfall of ‘buy cheap, buy twice’!
The hardwood we source almost always comes from a local tree surgeon who can tell us exactly where the tree grew, usually within the Scottish Borders. We feel this is the next best thing to reclaimed wood, just in the same way buying meat from your local butcher is better than from a supermarket.
All of our off-cuts are given to our local community shed project or used by friend and family for firewood.
