OUR ETHOS
Every item that leaves our workshop is something we are proud to have made and deliver to your home. We could automate many of our processes to make our tables faster, but that would change their character and put talented and skilled people out of work. We do use machines for some processes, as this makes our furniture more affordable, but we are passionate about handmade furniture that the majority of people can afford.
Furniture made by hand in the UK by skilled makers being paid a wage commensurate to their skill (and including 20% VAT) is more expensive than mass-produced or imported furniture, but it is still great value for money and the more ethical choice. Please note, you will not find our furniture on any other websites.
The wood we source comes from a local tree surgeon who can often tell us exactly where the tree grew, always within the Scottish Borders. We feel this is now the more ethical choice than using reclaimed wood which, due to very high demand, now usually comes from overseas.
All of our wood chips and off-cuts are used to heat our workshop or given to our local community shed project.
